MAKE A LIST
Make a list of all your belongings. Inventories help you remember what and how many stuff do you have.

SAY GOODBYE TO UNUSED STUFF
If your children already left, if you are going to live by yourself, or you just realize you are drowning in your stuff; Get rid of all unused stuff that only required too much space, Maybe its the right time to sell it and get some cash.
GET STURDY, UNIFORM PACKING SUPPLIES
You will need boxes, tape, marker, stretch wrap, bubble wrap, mattress cover, moving blankets, rope or tie down straps, disk lock.
Boxes protect your belongings and it easier to pack your unit by using uniform shape containers. Wrap breakable items with bubble wrap and utilize packing paper if needed. Fill boxes to avoid shifting. Be sure to label your boxes so can easily determine where things need to go when unloading.
PACK THE BASICS YOURSELF

When its possible disassemble furniture before loading.

Remove the light bulbs from the lampshades from lamps and pack separately to protect them.

Wrap wood furniture with moving blankets and stretch wrap.

Use mattress covers for yours.

You will need a disk lock to secure your portable storage Box.
